The Affordable Housing Society Development at Palm Avenue off the
Royal Oak Skytrain Station in Burnaby includes two residential rental
towers at 15-20 storeys and a mixed-use podium with childcare, office
space, conference centre and café uses.
The tower forms are defined through slender vertical volumes with
accentuated terracing at the top. The visual scale of the development is
further reduced to better relate to the neighbourhood context through
the introduction of a connector volume between the two towers.
The office base component that will house BCGEU offices takes on a
3-storey horizontal form with punched expression that relates to the
neighbouring 4-storey residential mixed-use developments along Royal
Oak.
